Classical Rhine and Switzerland Extension
Follow Father Rhine to the heart of Lucerne
Journey 500 miles along the Rhine, one of Europe’s principal rivers referred to as “Father Rhine”. From Amsterdam, you’ll cruise through Germany and France to Basel. Each day brings a new wonder: the Dutch Ijsselmeer, the vineyards along the Moselle River, and the fabled castles of the Middle Rhine Valley. Vibrant cities like Cologne and Strasbourg contrast with quaint wine villages or Speyer, one of the oldest German cities.
At our final destination, Basel, choose to extend your journey for two nights into the heart of the Swiss Alps and Lucerne. Explore famous Lake Lucerne and Lucerne’s charming town center filled with historic landmarks. A ride up Mount Pilatus on the Pilatus Railway, the world’s steepest cogwheel railway, will take your breath away as you climb closer to where the mountain meets the sky.
Please note: The minimum number of participants for the land program is 15.

Meanwhile, the pubs and restaurants around offer you plenty of Swiss specialties. Your local tour guide will share some hidden gems with you, which you can try for lunch.
